Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić said today that Serbia is very interested in having good, stable, quality and mutually beneficial relations with its neighbour Croatia.
After the meeting with Croatian Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman in Novi Sad, Đurić said that the two countries need each other in the regional and neighboring contexts, as well as in the context of solving and improving the position of the Serbian community in Croatia and the Croatian community in Serbia.
We want to see continued work on improving the position of the Croatian people in local self-governments and various institutions and levels of government, as well as the constant improvement of the position of the Serbian people and the Serbian community in Croatia, the Minister said.
Đurić added that all of this should create some institutional prerequisites for the relationship between Serbia and Croatia to progress in the future on the basis of mutual respect and trust.
He announced that he will work with a lot of energy to resolve open issues, so that future generations will be left with a different kind of political paradigm.
Đurić noted that, when it comes to missing persons, there is a political will to resolve the issue.
Grlić Radman singled out the issue of missing persons as the most important among the inherited open issues, expressing the expectation that it will be resolved in cooperation between the two countries.
It is important to point out that it is in the interest of both Croatia and Serbia to live stably and in peace, as good neighbours, Grlić Radman pointed out.
