Prime Minister Miloš Vučević talked today with new UN Resident Coordinator to Serbia Matilde Mordt about further cooperation with this organisation in the field of national strategic framework of sustainable development goals.
Vučević assessed that the scope of work and engagement of the UN Office to Belgrade and cooperation with institutions is of great importance for Serbia in terms of supporting poverty reduction, environmental protection, economic growth and strengthening of institutions.
The Prime Minister explained that the priority of the Serbian government is to create a better business environment and attract large investments, from which the domestic private sector, small and medium-sized enterprises would also benefit greatly.
The Prime Minister stated that industry and agriculture are the most important economic branches for preserving sustainable economic growth, as well as the field of tourism, which has recorded significant economic growth in recent years.
Mordt pointed out that the United Nations has an important role in solving the issue of climate change and congratulated the Serbian government on its exceptional engagement in strengthening institutional capacities in Serbia for dealing with that issue.
She pointed out that supporting private companies in the fields of green innovation and IT technologies represents a great potential for the economy.
The Permanent Coordinator of the UN in Serbia emphasised that the cooperation with the government and relevant institutions in Serbia is extremely good and that she expects it to continue in all important areas.
Vučević informed Mordt about the difficult position of the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija, as well as the daily terror of Kurti's regime to which they are exposed.
The Prime Minister also pointed out that the recent adoption of the resolution on Srebrenica in the UN General Assembly does not contribute to stability in the region, but on the contrary, further damages relations within Bosnia and Herzegovina.
