Prime Minister Miloš Vučević said today, at the opening of the Fourth Think-Tank conference of the Belt and Road Institute, that Serbia is the best example of infrastructure development within the Belt and Road Initiative.
Vučević assessed that the steely friendship between Serbia and the People's Republic of China represents the foundation of the community of the two countries for a common future.
He recalled that at the Third Belt and Road Forum in Beijing last year, the Free Trade Agreement was signed, as the most important document that will speed up the development of the Serbian economy, and that during the last two meetings between presidents Aleksandar Vučić and Xi Jinping, almost 50 documents were signed.
Serbia is one of the 28 founding countries of the Belt and Road Initiative, the Prime Minister said, pointing out that it is significant that in such geopolitical circumstances the conference is attended by representatives of 15 countries from four continents, with the message that Serbia always pays great attention to gatherings of this format.
Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Serbia Li Ming, who opened the conference together with Prime Minister Vučević, assessed that the recent visit of President Xi was very successful and that it is the basis for even better relations between the two countries.
Li Ming said that EXPO 2027 in Belgrade will be an incentive for both Serbia and the People's Republic of China, and pointed out that the fundamental reason for the success of Chinese-Serbian cooperation in the Initiative lies in the relationship between the two presidents and the trust that the two countries have in each other.
At the opening of the conference, Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Goran Vesić pointed out that Serbia is rapidly modernising and developing and that political and economic stability has led to a large influx of foreign investment.
One of the central places in that development and investment in infrastructure is occupied by China, Vesić said and added that the results of China's development were also an incentive for Serbia when planning the direction of our country's development.
After the introductory speeches, Prime Minister Vučević and Ambassador Li Ming unveiled the plaque of the Belgrade department of the Centre for Sustainable and Innovative Transport of Beijing Jiaotong University.
The Fourth Belgrade Think-Tank conference is being held in the Palace of Serbia, under the auspices of the Serbian government and the Embassy of the People's Republic of China to Serbia.
