Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Jelena Tanaskovic opened today the fifth International Fair of Fruit, Vegetable and Viticulture "Agro Belgrade", in which 500 exhibitors from Serbia and the region participate.
On that occasion, Tanaskovic emphasised that subsidies in farming in Serbia will cover 46% of wheat production costs in 2024, which shows how determined the country is for the development and survival of agriculture.
She pointed out that in the development plan of Serbia until 2027, agriculture occupies a special place, so subsidies will grow by at least 10% in the next four years.
She pointed out that Serbia is committed to the EU market and exports the most there, but does not give up on opening new ones.
The minister specifically pointed to the Free Trade Agreement with the People's Republic of China, as well as to the fact that in the next four years, 600 million euros will be allocated through subsidies from the budget and the IPARD program for agriculture.
Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of Montenegro Vladimir Jokovic said that this country wants to develop its agriculture and improve cooperation with Serbia.
Ambassador of the United States of America Christopher Hill pointed out that agriculture knows no borders and that as such it is extremely important for the development and progress of any country.
I am proud of the support that our Agency for Development (USAID) has provided to the agricultural sector in Serbia, Hill said.
500 exhibitors from Serbia and the region are expecting visitors this year, namely producers of fresh, frozen and processed fruit, vegetables and grapes, as well as producers of agricultural machinery and equipment, nurseries, seeds, fertilizers and pesticides, as well as other companies operating in this sector.
