At the Serbian-Ugandan business forum in the Palace of Serbia, Vucic invited Serbian businessmen to, with the support of the government of Serbia and the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia, consider opportunities for investment in Uganda.
When it comes to concrete cooperation in the field of the construction industry with Uganda, he said that "Energoprojekt" and our other construction companies are ready to work in that country.
According to him, the two countries can achieve cooperation in the ICT sector, in the area of digitalisation and the software industry, where Serbia has achieved great success, and cooperation is also possible in the health care and energy sectors.
I believe that in the months and years to come, we will be able to use our sincere friendship in the most concrete way possible in the interests of both countries. I believe that the more frequent visits of your officials in Belgrade and the visits of our ministers in Uganda, such as the visit of Minister of Internal and External Trade Tomislav Momirovic, will create a connection that will be able to be used by business people of both countries, the President underlined.
President of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni pointed out that all raw materials are produced in Uganda, but they need cooperation with partners in the world, including in Serbia, in order to create added value, because they are at a great loss by exporting raw materials, and called on Serbian companies to participate in creating added value.
Speaking about his country's market and what cooperation with it can bring, he stated that Uganda has a population of 46 million and is part of the East African regional market, as well as the continental market of one and a half billion people, which is growing rapidly.
Also, as he underlined, Uganda has agreements with numerous countries, such as the USA, which allow 6,500 products from Africa to have free access to the American market, without quotas and tariffs.
According to him, Uganda has a similar agreement with the European Union, which only excludes weapons, and with China, where goods from this country can also enter without quotas and customs duties.
President of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce Marko Cadez said that it is very important to establish cooperation with Uganda, which is a large market and one of the fastest growing in Africa, assessing that visit of President Museveni to Serbia opened a new chapter for economic cooperation.
According to him, there is a practical need for cooperation in the sectors of agriculture, food industry, as well as in the field of tourism and trade.
He pointed out that tomorrow's opening of the unique restaurant and market of this African country in Belgrade is also very important, and at the same time invited Uganda to take part in EXPO 2027.
