Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Miroljub Labus said today following a meeting with European Union Commissioner for External Relations Chris Patten that Serbia's membership in the EU is a priority of the Serbian government.
Labus said that it is very important that Serbia's Feasibility Study on EU Accession gets favourable marks. Serbia must meet two conditions on its path towards the EU, and these are the implementation of the Action Plan, meaning full harmonisation with the market of Montenegro, and better cooperation with the Hague tribunal.
The Deputy Prime Minister briefed Patten on the Serbian government's activities on the addressing of problems concerning the EU accession, including the sugar affair. Labus said
that criminal charges have been filed against the director general and chief accountant of the MK Komerc company.
Labus stressed that the Serbian government is a reformist government, which can be confirmed by its economic policy in the past two months, and the approach to the solution of the Kosovo-Metohija problem. The government is ready to give full contribution to the accession of the state union of Serbia-Montenegro to the EU.
