Serbian Minister of Labour, Employment, and Social Policy Slobodan Lalovic has opened the 48th International Fair of Technology and Technological Achievements, themed “Step into the Future,” which has attracted more than 1,000 domestic and international exhibitors.
Lalovic said that with this event, after a period of isolation, Serbia is moving towards European integration and he added that the fact that the numbers of domestic and international exhibitors are equal this year is particularly encouraging.
He said that Serbia’s biggest problem is outdated technology in the economy, especially compared with the nineties, when Serbia was amongst the most developed countries in the technological sense, while now, after years of isolation, it is near the bottom of the ladder.
Lalovic said that this year’s fair will have a long-term success only if Serbia manages to let loose technology and keep young experts in the country.
The minister said he hopes that the fair will help boost ties with the neighbouring countries and establish many business contact.
