Representatives of the Serbian Ministry of Diaspora, led by Deputy Minister Dragan Cotric, attended an annual meeting of the Romanian Serbs’ Association, held in Timisoara on Saturday.

The meeting opened with reading out the letters from the Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica and Romanian Prime Minister Adrian Nastase. The agenda included priorities for the association’s future work, such as support to Serb schools and cultural activities.
Cotric told Beta news agency that the Ministry of Diaspora will help the Serb minority in Romania to preserve its cultural identity, by providing education of Serb students in the homeland and also promised to assist the publishing and procurement of books and magazines for Serb schools and libraries in Romania.
Cotric also said he will strive to ensure that interested Romanian Serbs get double citizenship in a quick procedure.
During the visit to Romania, the ministry officials attended the consecration of an Orthodox church in the village of Denta and also visited the village of Veliki Semiklus.
