Minister of Justice Maja Popovic and Public Prosecutor of the Republic of Serbia Zagorka Dolovac met with President of Eurojust Ladislav Hamran.
At the meeting, it was pointed out that it is necessary to exchange useful experiences with Eurojust, as a body of the European Union for judicial cooperation in criminal matters, because the forms of crime nowadays most often have a transnational character and it is almost impossible for one country alone, without international cooperation, to fight effectively against these forms of crime.
This form of cooperation is especially necessary because the Republic of Serbia is the largest country in the Western Balkans, which is located on the external borders of the European Union and is a crossroads of drug and weapons trade, as well as of the activities of organised criminal groups.
The participants in the meeting concluded that continuous cooperation with Eurojust is necessary for the effective prevention and fight against serious forms of crime.
The meeting was attended by Assistant Minister of Justice Vladimir Vins, Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia in The Hague Ksenija Milenkovic, Public Prosecutor for the Republic of Serbia's Liaison with Eurojust Gordana Janicijevic and Advisor for International Cooperation in the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Serbia Marijana Santrac, according to a statement of the Ministry of Justice.
