High level of mutual trust strong basis for further strengthening cooperation with China

Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić discussed today with Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Serbia Li Ming the possibilities for further strengthening and advancing bilateral cooperation, regional and geopolitical challenges, as well as cooperation at a multilateral level.

Particular attention during the meeting was devoted to the implementation of projects based on the agreements and understandings reached during the recent official visit of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić to China.

Both sides noted that the extremely high level of trust between the two countries represents a strong basis for strengthening cooperation in the fields of economy and trade, new investments, defence, science and innovation, artificial intelligence, as well as in other fields of mutual interest.

Đurić emphasised that President Vučić’s strategic visit to the People’s Republic of China opened a new era in relations, which also includes the promotion of the building of a community of Serbia and China with a shared future.

The head of Serbian diplomacy informed the Chinese Ambassador about the situation and problems in Kosovo and Metohija, noting the desire to ensure a normal life for Serbs in the province through the continuation of the dialogue, as well as respect for all human rights and the preservation of religious and cultural heritage.

He thanked China for its principled stance in supporting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Serbia, as well as for the continued functioning of the United Nations Mission in Kosovo and Metohija (UNMIK).

Đurić also reiterated Serbia’s support for the One China policy and the integrity of that country and pointed out the high level of agreement on the most important geopolitical issues, which is manifested through the very good cooperation between the two countries in multilateral forums, as was confirmed during a recent meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in New York.

The Serbian Foreign Minister also briefed Ambassador Li Ming on the progress of the Expo 2027 project, adding that Serbia has so far registered a record number of confirmed applications from participating countries for an event of this nature, which will serve as an extraordinary promotion of the economic, tourism, technological and other achievements of the countries that will be presented at Expo 2027, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
