The Ministry of Justice announced that online meetings were held with the rapporteurs of the Venice Commission, where the laws and working texts of the courts were presented.
Representatives of the Ministry of Justice, members of the High Judiciary Council, judges of the Supreme Court of Cassation, representatives of the Association of Courts of Serbia, professors of law faculties and associates at scientific institutes, as well as MPs from ruling positions participated in the talks.
During the event, it was noted that the professional assistance of this advisory body of the Council of Europe is extremely important for the process of harmonising the legal framework with the adopted constitutional changes.
Expectations were expressed that the new normative solutions contained in the set of judicial laws will ensure the independence of the judiciary in the Republic of Serbia.
The rapporteurs of the Venice Commission are familiar with the activities and results of the work of the Working Group, the criteria for the selection of its courts, as well as other issues related to the transparency and inclusiveness of the procedure issued by the new Law on Courts and Law on Courts.
Through a series of substantive and constructive discussions, numerous new legal solutions were discussed, which should improve the position of the court, implement the principle of government and establish the rule of law, the statement reads.
