Pristina postpones decision on licence plates, ID documents

Director of the Office for Kosovo-Metohija Petar Petkovic said today that through a determined and intense diplomatic struggle, Serbia succeeded in getting Quinta and the United States to put pressure on Albin Kurti and for Pristina to postpone the implementation of the decisions on licence plates and ID documents for 30 days.

In a statement for Radio and Television of Serbia (RTS), Petkovic expressed the hope that in the period ahead of us in Brussels, with a difficult political struggle, we will try to reach a compromise solution.

We are talking with the Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija, we will do everything in our power to preserve peace and stability, but our people can no longer endure the terror of Aljbin Kurti, the Director of the Office said.

Petkovic pointed out that it was clear that Kurti and Pristina wanted conflicts, stating that they brought hundreds of armored vehicles and armed special forces to the Belvedere base in the southern part of Kosovska Mitrovica, which, he said, aimed to invade during the night to the north of Kosovo-Metohija and deal with the bare-handed Serbian people.

He emphasised that the situation is very dramatic and that Belgrade has been warning about it for weeks and months.

According to him, yesterday's address by the President of Serbia was a request to preserve peace and stability and a request to Quinta to reason with Kurti.
