The Serbian government’s Office for Kosovo and Metohija stated today, on the occasion of 26 years since the murder of 14 Serbian harvesters from the village of Staro Gracko near Lipljan, that Serbia and the Serbian people will never remain silent and forget the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija who were brutally executed, by close-range gunfire.

The statement recalls that, although it is clear that the perpetrators of this heinous crime were members of the then still not disbanded terrorist Kosovo Liberation Army (UÇK), none of the murderers have been brough to justice.
The crime was committed after the arrival of international forces in Kosovo and Metohija and under their mandate, which demonstrates their unwillingness to protect Serbs and to find and sanction the perpetrators.
In Staro Gracko, on 23 July 1999, 14 Serbs were shot and killed at close range, in a field. The youngest among them, Novica Janićijević, was only 17 years old.
