EU donation for construction of University Children's Clinic "Tirsova 2"

President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic and European Commissioner for Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi visited today the works on the construction of the University Children's Clinic "Tirsova 2", which is financed partly from an EU donation and partly from a loan from the Council Development Bank Europe.

Minister for European Integration Jadranka Joksimovic, Minister of Health Zlatibor Loncar, Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Emanuele Giaufret, Belgrade Mayor Zoran Radojicic and Deputy Mayor Goran Vesic also visited the works on the construction of a new children's hospital with Vucic and Varhei.

The construction of "Tirsova 2" will cost €117.2 million, of which €95 million is needed for construction works, and the rest for the purchase of equipment.

The EU donation for the construction of that children's clinic amounts to €35.7 million, which is one of the largest donations approved by the Union for projects outside the transport and energy sector, and the second tranche is provided from a loan from the Council of Europe Development Bank.

The new children's clinic will cover 57,000 square meters, of which 36,000 square metres are intended for medical space with eight state-of-the-art operating rooms and 37 intensive care beds.

The complex is designed for a total of 286 hospital beds that will be distributed in 154 rooms.
