Strategic partnership with US one of Serbia’s priority goals

Belgrade/Munich, 14 February 2026

Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić discussed today, on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, with Assistant Secretary of State of the United States Brendan Hanrahan, about improving bilateral relations, regional opportunities and current global challenges.

During the conversation, it was emphasised that the official launch of the strategic partnership mechanism with the United States is one of Serbia’s priority foreign policy goals.

Đurić emphasised that Serbia is approaching this process responsibly and with a clear intention to raise relations with the United States to a higher, structured and long-term sustainable level.

On this occasion, the belief was expressed that the challenges in the field of energy will be overcome as soon as possible, which will fully open up space for further strengthening of comprehensive cooperation.

The interlocutors agreed that preserving stability in the region is of common interest, and Đurić emphasised that Serbia remains a constructive, reliable and responsible actor, committed to dialogue and preserving peace.

Speaking about the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, he expressed concern about the continuous provocations, pressures and unilateral moves by Priština, which undermine stability on the ground and further complicate the continuation of the dialogue.

Đurić expressed gratitude to the United States for its engagement in protecting the rights of Christians in Kosovo and Metohija.
