Minister of Education Professor Dejan Vuk Stanković, PhD, met today with Ambassador of Ukraine to Serbia Oleksandr Lytvynenko to discuss cooperation between the two countries in the field of education and possibilities for advancing it.
Stanković stated that, in addition to the fact that both countries provide scholarships for students based on signed interstate agreements, he believes that there is room for strengthening cooperation between the ministries responsible for education, as well as between educational institutions at all levels.
The Minister informed the Ambassador about the specificities of the education system in Serbia, which relate to education in the languages of national minorities, noting that, with regard to the Ukrainian national minority, there is an elective programme called Ukrainian Language with Elements of National Culture, which is implemented in towns where the largest number of Ukrainians live, such as Kula, Vrbas and Sremska Mitrovica.
