Minister of European Integration Jadranka Joksimovic signed today with US Ambassador to Serbia Christopher Hill and Acting USAID Mission Director Denny Robertson amendments by which $19.5 million in non-repayable aid is granted to Serbia.
These are amendments 16 and 18, of which the first deals with the functioning of the public administration, whereas the funds approved under the second amendment will be used for a more competitive market economy.
Joksimovic explained that this is part of the aid in the total amount of $115 million, which is the value of the planned aid package of USAID to Serbia to 2025.
The Minister expressed satisfaction with the fact that the strategic agreement which Serbia has with USAID is being renewed at regular intervals.
This agency has been present in Serbia for many years and it is helping strategically and financially in all reforms which are important for our European path and thus the United States appears as important support to our country on its European path, the Minister said.
Ambassador Hill underlined that the goal of cooperation with USAID is for Serbia to be successful and to achieve its goals and that means to have a strong economy, strong institutions, good relations with neighbours, especially now when we face numerous challenges.
