Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikola Selakovic pointed out today, in a telephone conversation with State Councilor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of China Wang Yi, readiness to further strengthen cooperation with that country in all areas.
On that occasion, Selakovic said that Serbia is proud of the steel friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership it has with China, expressing gratitude for the clear and firm support that China provides to our country on Kosovo and Metohija, both bilaterally and in international organisations.
He also added that our country provides unequivocal support for the policy of "one China" and the principle of "one country-two systems", as well as the struggle of the People's Republic of China against separatism.
Selakovic also conveyed that Serbia attaches great importance to the initiative of the Chinese President "Belt and Road" and the China-CEEC cooperation mechanism, emphasizing that we are glad that this year marks the tenth anniversary of the establishment of this mechanism.
When it comes to trade, the head of Serbian diplomacy stated that it exceeded five billion dollars last year, and that our exports reached a historical maximum of almost one billion dollars, which is an increase of 152 percent in the last ten years.
The officials agreed that the signing of the Free Trade Agreement between the two countries will provide a wider space for further development of trade and raising the role of Serbia in the region.
