Prime Minister Ana Brnabic pointed out today in Mostar, at the opening ceremony of the 23rd International Trade Fair, where exhibitors from Serbia were presented, the importance of stability and infrastructural connections in the region.
On that occasion, Brnabic pointed out that our region is relatively small, noting that everything we can do together directly contributes to a better life for all of us in the region, regardless of the country in which we live.
Any instability in the region directly affects all of us. It is very important that we additionally invest in infrastructural connections because roads connect us. Due to that, the government of Serbia is especially focused on infrastructure projects, the Prime Minister said.
Brnabic reminded that the construction of the highway in both directions from Belgrade to Sarajevo has begun, and that the border crossing on the Ljubovija-Bratunac bridge was built at the end of November 2021.
Only by sticking together and building bridges, economic and infrastructural, Serbia and BiH can improve their economic cooperation and build a more prosperous region together, the Prime Minister emphasised.
According to her, such projects will help our businessmen to exchange goods and provide more jobs, better salaries and living standards.
The Prime Minister assessed that great potential for cooperation between Serbia and BiH also exists in the field of energy, agriculture, tourism and the food industry.
The Prime Minister emphasized that in the last 10 years, the bilateral trade between BiH and Serbia has doubled, with constant growth, stating that last year it reached the level of €2.34 billion, while BiH was Serbia's fifth foreign trade partner after Germany, China, Russia and Italy.
At the same time, BiH was the third export destination, after Italy and Germany, the Prime Minister pointed out, adding that foreign trade last year was 34 percent higher than in 2020, and that Serbia was third in terms of investment in BiH.
According to her, all these results indicate a positive development trend of the two countries, as well as additional potential for mutual cooperation.
She pointed out that Serbia is at the Fair in Mostar for the fifth time in a row with 18 exhibitors, and expressed confidence that the event will greatly contribute to the results of cooperation between the two countries in the coming period will be even better.
The Prime Minister said that the two countries will closely cooperate and provide support to each other in the newly emerging crisis caused by the war in Ukraine, as they did during the pandemic.
