Unity on most important state interests prerequisite for Serbia's further progress

Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, said today, during a debate in the Serbian parliament on a motion for a vote of no confidence in the Government, that Serbia needs unity on key state and national interests the most, emphasising that the task of all public office holders is to contribute to a constructive dialogue and create conditions for the country's further development.

Speaking about the statements made by certain ministers, the Prime Minister stated that he immediately spoke with them, which was followed by public apologies, and reiterated that the positions expressed did not represent the position of the Government of Serbia.

The Prime Minister underlined that the Government functions by analysing all issues of public importance on a daily basis and reacting to them in a timely, clear and responsible manner, in accordance with its competences and in the interest of citizens.

He also pointed out the importance of maintaining trust in institutions and respecting the work of judicial and investigative bodies, assessing that it is necessary to avoid actions and statements that could further raise tensions in society.

Macut said that the Government remains committed to implementing reforms, strengthening institutions, preserving stability and creating conditions for further economic development and a better quality of life for all citizens.
