Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikola Selakovic talked on the phone today with Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy Luigi Di Maio.
Selakovic expressed satisfaction with the level of overall relations between the two countries, emphasising that they are constantly advancing thanks to the Strategic Partnership Agreement from 2009.
When it comes to economic cooperation, the head of Serbian diplomacy pointed out that Italy is one of Serbia's leading economic partners, our third foreign trade partner and the second largest export market, but also one of the ten largest foreign investors.
It is very important that Italy is committed to the EU enlargement process, Selakovic underlined, and in that sense expressed gratitude for the country's continuous and strong support for Serbia's European path.
He informed his interlocutor about the situation in Kosovo-Metohija and the position of the Serbian people in the province, emphasising that we highly appreciate the contribution that Italy provides to security and stability in Kosovo and in the process of dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina.
The officials also referred to the situation in the region and Eastern Europe, and Selakovic reiterated that Serbia is committed to peace and stability.
