Prime Minister Ana Brnabic talked today with President of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) Sebastian Coe on the World Indoor Championships, which officially opened today in Belgrade.
Coe expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Brnabic for the support provided by the government to the Athletics Federation of Serbia in organising such a large sporting event.
According to him, the excitement of all competitors is great, considering that this is the first championship since 2019 in which the audience is present.
Coe added that in a direct conversation he was convinced that all athletes, coaches and members of professional staffs are very satisfied with all the conditions in Belgrade, which is a very important part in the organisation of every sports competition.
Brnabic conveyed her gratitude to the IAAF President for the trust in the selection of our capital for the organisation of the World Indoor Championships.
In the talks, it was agreed that the great organisation of the European Indoor Championship five years ago in Belgrade contributed a lot to that.
The World Indoor Athletics Championship is being held in Belgrade from 18 to 20 March at the Stark Arena.
Our country will host 680 athletes from more than 130 countries.
This is the first World Championship after Birmingham in 2018, and it will be the second most massive competition in the history of indoor competitions.
