Minister of Economy Andjelka Atanaskovic and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Peter Szijjarto chaired today in Budapest the 12th session of the Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation between the two countries.

Minister of Economy Andjelka Atanaskovic and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Peter Szijjarto chaired today in Budapest the 12th session of the Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation between the two countries.
Atanaskovic pointed out the great importance of the session of the Joint Commission, which aims to provide institutional support to the business environment, identify and remove possible obstacles and enable business communities on both sides to optimize their business potentials.
The Minister added that bilateral economic relations with Hungary, which was and remained our country's strategic partner in economic terms, are very developed and are based on joint infrastructure projects, growing Hungarian investments in the Serbian economy and trade, which is growing continuously.
According to her, last year Hungary was our sixth trade partner, i.e., the third of the European Union countries.
Szijjarto said that the government of Hungary continues with the development programme in Vojvodina, within which 16 Hungarian companies received support in the form of more than €56 million.
Also, the Minister pointed out the great importance of infrastructural cooperation and the project of reconstruction of the railway Subotica - Szeged, which is in the phase of replacing the old track with a new one, with the expectation that the Belgrade-Budapest railway will be completed by 2025.
Szijjarto stressed the importance of establishing so-called green corridors at border crossings, noting that customs authorities are in constant contact.
After the plenary session of the 12th session of the Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation between Serbia and Hungary, Atanaskovic and Szijjarto signed the Protocol from the session, which defines further steps to improve cooperation.
