Selakovic underlined that the traditional friendship and good political relations between the two countries represent an excellent foundation that should be used for strengthening bilateral cooperation.
He also said that Serbia is determined to intensify political dialogue with Cameroon and called for the visit of top officials of that country to Serbia in the coming period.
Selakovic conveyed gratitude to the Prime Minister of Cameroon for the principled position of that country on the issue of Kosovo and Metohija, noting that Serbia also strongly supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Cameroon.
Selakovic began his official visit to Cameroon with a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs Lejeune Mbella Mbella.
Selakovic recalled that the two countries are connected by decades of friendship, mutual understanding and support, as well as important common goals and values conceived within the Movement of Non-Aligned Countries.
In that sense, he said that it is necessary to work on strengthening political dialogue, improving cooperation in the field of economy, but also in other areas of common interest.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cameroon expressed his gratitude to Selakovic for making the first visit of a Serbian minister to Cameroon in 40 years and intensive meetings over the last five months, noting that the two countries have been linked for decades by sharing the same values and challenges.
He expressed the desire to deepen relations with Serbia and underlined that economic cooperation lags behind excellent political cooperation and that it needs to be intensified, primarily in the field of agro-industry, digital economy, and telecommunications.
