Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Tomislav Momirovic stated today that the Port of Antwerp is interested in taking part in the project of construction of a new Port of Belgrade.
During a visit to the Port of Antwerp, Momirovic said that the new Port of Belgrade is one the most important projects which is being prepared by the competent ministry and the government. This project has the potential to become the most significant port project on the Danube.
Managing Director of the Port of Antwerp Kristof Waterschoot informed Minister Momirovic about the company’s business results and expressed its interest in taking part in the realisation of the project of construction of the new Port of Belgrade.
The interest of the Port of Antwerp in this project is a proof of its quality, Momirovic said and underlined that every investment in water transport is investment in environmental protection too, as it is the most environmentally friendly form of transport.
The final solution for the location of the new Belgrade port is currently being examined and the beginning of works is expected in late 2023.
