The celebration of the Chinese New Year – the Year of the Tiger in Serbia began tonight with a festive fireworks display at 5 pm, i.e. at midnight Beijing time, on the Sava Promenade, in front of the Belgrade Gallery.

Assistant Minister of Culture and Information Stanko Blagojevic, Mayor of Belgrade Zoran Radojicic, representatives of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Belgrade and the Belt and Road Institute in Belgrade, as well as the founder of the Chinese Festival of Light Slobodan Trkulja attended the celebration.
For the fourth time in a row, the Chinese New Year will be celebrated in Serbia in January and February this year, through three events: Chinese Light Festival, Chinese New Year's Fair and the first Belgrade "Think-Tank" related to the "Belt and Road" Initiative.
This year's celebration of the Chinese New Year in Belgrade and Novi Sad is under the general auspices of the government of Serbia, the City of Belgrade and the City of Novi Sad, with the support of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Serbia and the Belt and Road Institute in Belgrade.
The light installations at the Sava Promenade will be set up as part of the Chinese Light Festival from 31 January to 13 February.
All citizens and guests of the City of Novi Sad in Liman Park will be able to visit this festival in the same period.
