Prime Minister Ana Brnabic attended today the opening of the section of the Milos the Great highway from Preljina near Cacak to Pakovraca, approximately 11.5 km long.
The Prime Minister, who attended the opening of this section instead of President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic, took a bus ride along the new part of the highway.
Before entering the bus, she conveyed the greetings of President Vucic to the Chinese contractors and added that he will personally come to thank them and provide support for the remaining works to Pozega.
The Prime Minister expressed the expectation that the part of the highway to Pozega will be ready by the end of the year, emphasising that it is important that the works be completed as soon as possible.
During the bus ride, Brnabic reminded that a total of 12 highways and expressways are currently being built in Serbia, with a total value of €3.8 billion, which shows how much Serbia has changed for the better.
She stated that after today's opening of this section, less than 20 km of the highway to Pozega remained to be completed, noting that this section is very demanding for contractors, considering that one third of the route is in tunnels and bridges.
The Prime Minister emphasised that there is enough money in the budget for all started projects, emphasising that with all that, Serbia's public debt is not growing.
She noted that Serbia has a stronger economy, thanks to fiscal consolidation, and that now, after 30 years, new energy facilities are being built and investments are being made in the environment.
The Prime Minister pointed out that free construction operations and labour can no longer be found in Serbia, emphasising that these are all things that have not been done for decades, and are now being carried out.
Brnabic expressed the expectation that the construction of the Clinical Centre Kragujevac will start this year, and added that the cornerstone for the most beautiful lookout point in Kablar should be laid in March, and that a road has already been built there.
She said that the first ecological catamaran produced in Serbia would be in Medjuvrsje, and added that €74 million would be set aside just for the construction of sewers and wastewater treatment in the Moravica and Zlatibor districts.
According to her, these projects are being carried out thanks to EU IPA funds and in partnership with Chinese companies within the "Clean Serbia" project in many cities and municipalities.
The Prime Minister reminded that €600 million had been invested in desulphurisation plants in thermal power plants, adding that the plant in Kostolac had been completed and would end in TENT A and B in Obrenovac.
These are all projects for environmental protection, but also for raising the quality of life of our citizens, the Prime Minister concluded.
With the opening of the section of the highway from Preljina to Pakovraca, the traffic jams that were created through Cacak will become a thing of the past, because all transit traffic has been redirected to the new bypass.
It is part of the 30.9-km section of the highway from Preljina to Pozega, where the main contractor is the Chinese company CRBC.
The deadline for the completion of works, which began in May 2019, on the entire section to Pozega is 36 months, and their value is €450 million.
The Preljina-Pozega section is a continuation of the project for the construction of the Belgrade – South Adriatic highway with a total length of 258 km.
