Prime Minister Ana Brnabic stated tonight that education is a pillar of a strong state and a successful society, and said that in the next five years, an additional €135 million will be invested in the renovation and construction of faculties.
Speaking at the Saint Sava Academy, Brnabic pointed out that Saint Sava gave the church as security, and the Serbian school as the basis, stating that Serbia was created on those pillars and that it is getting better and better every day.
Our country is still on the path of Saint Sava. Today, 176,955 teachers and professors work in Serbia. 1,050,000 of our children go to primary and secondary schools, while 285,000 of them study at university, she specified.
The Prime Minister pointed out that the state is increasing investment in education every year, and that it is now at the level of RSD 252 billion, which is 43 percent more than in 2017.
According to her, the basic salary in education amounted to RSD 44,000 ten years ago whereas now it is slightly more than RSD 67,000, which is a growth of over 53 percent.
Brnabic said that more attention will be paid to the increase in salaries in education, because salaries are far from satisfactory in relation to how much educators deserve.
We have never looked at Serbia as a country of cheap labour, quite the opposite - Serbia wins thanks to its educational system, intelligence, creativity and ideas, Brnabic underlined.
According to her, the greatest added value in the economy is brought by intelligence and ideas.
The Prime Minister said that the state will continue to invest in the standard of employees in education, because there is no future without quality and professional people.
Digitalisation will also continue, she confirmed and added that it has largely succeeded so far.
