Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said today that public administration reform should continue in order to support the transition of our economy to an economy based on knowledge, new technologies and innovation.
Speaking at the panel discussion "How New Technologies Shape the World", held at the National Public Administration Academy, Brnabic stated that the training of public administration employees at the state, provincial and local levels on artificial intelligence, blockchain technology, cryptocurrencies, open data and other topics is starting.
She underlined that the goal is to equip our public administration with the necessary knowledge so that it could be able to follow the changes in our economy and not to be an obstacle, but rather support to the entire development.
The Prime Minister recalled that the reform of public administration began in 2016 with the introduction of e-government, which is now a mechanism that is coordinated with all reforms.
In 2017, a path was paved for the transformation of our society and the economy, based on labour-intensive investments, towards a society and economy based on knowledge, new technologies, innovation and creativity, she stated.
We managed to create a basis for e-government, to start implementing it and be a service to both citizens and the economy, but we also managed to create a basis for the transformation of our society and the economy into a society and the economy based on knowledge, innovation and new technologies, the Prime Minister pointed out.
She said that the next thing that is being done in our country on that issue is the development of artificial intelligence and biotechnology.
We are investing resources in raising additional capacities and knowledge of our citizens, generally through the Digital Caravan that we have, but at the same time we are investing much more time and energy so that public officials can understand the digital world and new technologies in the right way, Brnabic explained.
