Prime Minister Ana Brnabic attended today the launch of the green.gov.rs portal, where citizens will be able to follow in real time what the government of Serbia, thanks to e-government, has done as would preserve the environment.
At the promotion, which was held in the Office for IT and e-government, Brnabic pointed out that the goal of the government of Serbia, when this office was established, was for the public administration to become a service to citizens and the economy.
Our wish was for the citizens to no longer be couriers, not to go from counter to counter to collect papers, but for us to be their service. That is how e-government was created, which is also the best tool for the fight against corruption because it introduces transparency, which we have proven through the introduction of electronic building permits, the Prime Minister emphasised.
She stated that, in addition, e-government and green government have been shown because it saves trees, water and electricity, and specified that e-government services have saved more than 280 million sheets of paper, i.e., that they have not been cut for the production of that paper, trees and water and electricity were not used.
Brnabic pointed out that the government of Serbia is going a step further on the issue of environmental protection, so a pilot project was made a few months ago to use thermal energy from the Data Centre in Kragujevac for heating in one part of that city.
The Prime Minister announced that she would visit the Data Centre tomorrow, where a super computer will be put into operation, which will enable scientists, students, faculties, science and technology parks to have the infrastructure to deal with the development of artificial intelligence.
She also emphasised that from February 2022, an e-office will be introduced in all state administration bodies, which aims to create a "Paperless Government".
On the new portal green.gov.rs, citizens will be able to see in real time how much trees, water and electricity have been saved minute by minute, thanks to electronic services.
