Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Culture and Information Maja Gojkovic met today with members of the Working Group for Security and Protection of Journalists.
At the regular monthly meeting, the Deputy Republic Public Prosecutor Branko Stamenkovic informed about the current cases that the public prosecutor's offices are handling in connection with criminal acts that were committed to the detriment of the safety of journalists. Since the beginning of this year, the perpetrator has not been identified in only about 10% of cases.
Stamenkovic informed the members of the Working Group about the status of the cases that are regularly monitored.
The Prime Minister and the Deputy Prime Minister pointed out that the government remains committed to building trust and improving dialogue with all representatives of journalists and the media.
It was also agreed at the meeting that the Protector of Citizens would submit an analysis of the proposed amendments to the Law on Public Order and Peace in the part, which refer to journalists, which would be discussed at the next meeting of the Working Group.
