Prime Minister Ana Brnabic began bilateral meetings with officials from Europe and the United States in New York, ahead of tomorrow's address at the general debate of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
After the meetings, Brnabic pointed out in a statement for the Serbian media that Serbia had achieved a lot in the previous period and that is why we must not succumb to Pristina's provocations, but also that it must call on all partners to react in order to preserve peace.
We must give a clear message to all our partners, no matter how much we disagree on the issue of Kosovo, that peace and stability are important and to react in time, so as not to further endanger peace, stability and everything we have built so far, she said.
She noted that she held a meeting today with Prime Minister of Belgium Alexander De Crome, at which they talked about the European integration of Serbia and what we have done in the area of the rule of law.
According to her, a large part of the meeting was dedicated to the tensions and problems in Kosovo that are now current, given that Belgium was among the first to recognise Kosovo's independence.
Also, she pointed out to her interlocutor that this year there were the most attacks on Serbs and that the security situation has never been worse since the armed conflict, despite the fact that the so-called Kosovo enjoys the support of some EU members and the United States, noting that it is still the territory with the lowest number of returnees of all post-conflict areas in the world.
Brnabic also held a meeting with US Congressman Eric Swalwell in New York today, at which Serbian Ambassador to the United States Marko Djuric launched an initiative to have much better communication with the Democratic Party in the United States, which has not been the case so far.
The Prime Minister noted that she said that it is in Serbia's interest to be constructive, flexible and tolerant.
Answering the question what she will talk about tomorrow in her address at the UN general debate, she said that her speech will be based primarily on the situation with COVID-19, which is the topic of debate, as well as recovery in the post-covid period, but that she will also speak about the situation in the province.
The Prime Minister said that multilateralism is important, as well as that only together can we either win or lose.
