During the very successful meeting, good and friendly relations between the two countries were confirmed, an agreement was reached on the continuation of regular political consultations, and the visit of Minister Asselborn to Serbia at the beginning of next year was also discussed.
Also, Ministers Selakovic and Asselborn signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation between the two ministries.
Selakovic said that Asselborn, who strongly supports the accession of Serbia and the entire Western Balkans into the European Union, praised what our country is doing in the social and economic sphere.
He conveyed that during the meeting, the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina and the situation in the region were especially discussed and that Asselborn underlined several times that Serbia is a key factor of stability in the region and that is why it is also expected to be the most responsible.
Selakovic said that it was his honour and pleasure to talk with Minister Asselborn, the doyen of EU diplomacy and the man who has been the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for 17 years, concluding that we have a good, honest and principled partner.
Today, Selakovic also met with President of the Parliament of Luxembourg Fernand Etgen and the chairman and members of the Committee on Foreign, European Affairs, Migration and Asylum.
On that occasion, he recalled that Serbia and Luxembourg inherit a long tradition of cooperation and that next year the 95th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations will be marked.
The Minister stated that the relations between the two countries are characterised by understanding and diverse cooperation, assessing that by joint efforts we can make this cooperation reach an even higher level.
Selakovic ended his visit to Luxembourg with a meeting with Prime Minister of that country Xavier Bethel, who is a sincere and true friend of our country and sincerely supports Serbia's European path, according to Selakovic.
The Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs especially pointed out that the support provided by Luxembourg is not only in principle, but is a result of exceptional relations between President Aleksandar Vucic and Prime Minister Ana Brnabic with Prime Minister Bethel.
