Prime Minister Ana Brnabic stated that the minimum wage in 2022 will stand at RSD 35,012, which is a 9.4 percent increase.
After a session of the Socio-Economic Council, at which no agreement has been made with trade unions, Brnabic said that this minimum wage will cover the minimal consumer basket by 89 percent in 2022.
She stated that she understands dissatisfaction of the trade unions and announced that at the end of 2023 the decision will be made to equal the minimum wage to the minimal consumer basket as of 1 January 2024.
Minister of Finance Sinisa Mali said that in addition to increasing the minimum wage by 9.4 percent, relaxations for the economy will be introduced.
The non-taxable part of the salary will be increased from RSD 18,300 to RSD 19,300 and the rate of contributions to be paid to the Pension and Disability Insurance Fund will be reduced by 0.5 percent.
Representatives of the Association of Independent Trade Unions of Serbia (SSSS) and the United Trade Unions “Independence” (UGS Nezavisnost) said that they are not satisfied as they expected the minimum wage to be increased to equal the amount of the minimal consumer basket.
