Minister of the Interior Aleksandar Vulin met today with US Ambassador to Serbia Anthony Godfrey, who handed him over a donation from the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs of the US Department of State.
On that occasion, Vulin pointed out that the donated equipment will help ensure better protection of police officers while on duty, which is of special importance.
Any help to Serbia is also help to the country from which the help came. The safer Serbia is, the more it will be able to fight organised crime and there will be less of it on the borders of other countries, the Minister explained.
Godfrey pointed out that the success of Serbian institutions in the fight against transnational criminal groups contributes to global security, saying that the donation is a concrete sign of US support to professionals of the Ministry of the Interior.
He recalled that the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs annually gives $4.5 million as support to the judicial organs and organs of internal affairs of Serbia.
The donation of equipment to the Police Directorate will help police officers to be better equipped and protected while on duty, the Ambassador pointed out and specified that the donation also includes computer equipment for the Sector for International Cooperation of the Ministry of the Interior.
