Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Culture and Information Maja Gojkovic held a regular meeting today with the Working Group for Security and Protection of Journalists.
Serbian Deputy Public Prosecutor Branko Stamenkovic informed the members about the work done during April, where nine new cases were formed on the basis of nine reports of events and recalled that in the period from 1 January to 30 April this year, 38 cases were registered where 37 persons were identified.
Member of the Working Group Veran Matic stated that during the month of May, there were about 30 calls via the SOS hotline, and that three cases qualified to be referred to contact points in the Ministry of the Interior and prosecutor's offices.
The members of the Working Group informed the Prime Minister and the Deputy Prime Minister that the Working Group considered the opinion of Professor Zoran Stojanovic regarding the amendments to the Criminal Code for a more comprehensive protection of journalists.
The opinion will be forwarded to the Ministry of Justice, which has formed a working group that will deal with amendments to the Criminal Code.
