Serbia to receive $120 million from World Bank in 2004

Serbian Minister of Finance Mladjan Dinkic said last night that Serbia will receive the total of $120 million from the World Bank in the course of the year, in three $40 million tranches for three projects that are currently underway in Serbia.

Dinkic told the Beta news agency that the Serbian government delegation reached an agreement with World Bank President James Wolfensohn at a meeting in Washington on concluding a new three-year arrangement with the World Bank, worth $550 million. The preparation of the project's implementation strategy is expected to begin early next month.
The Serbian government delegation also met with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Acting Managing Director Anne Krueger. She voiced satisfaction with the agreement reached between the Serbian government delegation and IMF representatives on the realisation of a macroeconomic policy programme, the Minister of Finance said.
Dinkic said that the World Bank's and IMF's programmes of assistance to Serbia's economic development will be continued and intensified.
