The promotion, which has been realised in cooperation with UNICEF and the Council for Child Rights, will last until December 8 and cover 14 regions and 140 municipalities in Serbia. Partners in this promotion are the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Policy, Public Health Institute of Serbia “Milan Jovanovic Batut”, and the Permanent Conference of Cities and Municipalities.
The National Action Plan for Children aims to acquaint local self-governing authorities and the general public with the Serbian government’s policies concerning children and youth, to establish the position of children and young people in society, to inform them on the measures taken to protect the rights of children, to sponsor activities regarding the realisation of the National Action Plan, and to initiate local action plans.
Local action plans for children are part of the developed municipal plans and strategies and define short-term, mid-term and long-term policies and priorities for the period 2005-2010. These plans have been drawn out in accordance with the National Action Plan for Children, the Poverty Reduction Strategy, the Millennium Declaration and the declaration entitled: “A World Fit for Children”.
