President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic, Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and Minister of Health Zlatibor Loncar visited several mobile vaccination sites across Serbia.
In the village of Vrelo near Ub, they visited a mobile site that was set up at the stadium of the local football club of the same name, where they were greeted by hundreds of locals.
Vucic called on citizens to get vaccinated in order to protect themselves and the health of their loved ones and underlined that today vaccination is a matter of survival and development of the country and that it is therefore not difficult for him to go to every village if that will mean that 50 or 100 people more in that place will receive the coronavirus jab.
Our task is to fight and be responsible, it is a fight to continue economic growth. We can do thousands of things in Serbia if the economy moves forward and if we win the coronavirus. Without that, you don't stand a chance, the President said.
He noted that some people are against vaccination although they cannot explain why.
I kindly ask people not to do that and that we try to accelerate the economic growth. If the GDP grows seven percent, I guarantee to you that salaries and pensions will increase, which gives people a chance to live better and have better hospitals, roads, railways and other things, Vucic stated.
Brnabic and Loncar visited the vaccination point in the largest village in the municipality of Lajkovac - Jabucje, where today alone, between 50 and 100 locals have registered for vaccination against COVID 19.
Brnabic expressed her gratitude to the locals for responding to the call for immunisation and underlined that this is the only way to defeat the virus together and return to a normal life, celebrations, gatherings.
According to her, vaccination is a matter of responsibility and solidarity, while those who have been vaccinated protect themselves and those who have not been vaccinated.
During the talks with a medical team at the vaccination site, the Prime Minister inquired if the government and the state can do something more to vaccinate as many people as possible as soon as possible.
The medical team informed the Prime Minister that for now they have all they need and that the local people can choose from all brands of vaccines, like everywhere in the country.
They said that at the beginning, immunisation was difficult in the entire municipality of Lajkovac, but that there is increasing interest in the last few days.
Loncar said that additional medical teams will be sent in order to enable intensified vaccination in all local communities in Lajkovac.
