At the mentioned gathering, which was held in an online format, on the topic "New consideration of cyber strategies in turbulent times", Brnabic explained that because of that, Serbia decided to store personal data of citizens in its territory, where it can provide the highest security standards.
She emphasised that, when she took over the duty of the Prime Minister, she set clear and ambitious goals, such as the beginning of the transformation of the Serbian economy into a technologically modern, digitalised, oriented towards research and innovation.
We started with the transformation of education and public administration. We have introduced programming as a compulsory subject in primary schools, so that children in Serbia today learn Scratch, Python, Pygem, and Jupiter in primary schools. We are introducing the basics of artificial intelligence in those schools, Brnabic pointed out.
Also, as she said, we are connecting schools with high-speed internet and introducing digital books and classrooms, we have increased the number of IT classes in higher schools and expanded capacities at universities to accommodate more students in that field, we have invested heavily in high-tech infrastructure, science and technology parks, research institutes.
Banabic conveyed that e-government has been set as a priority for the public administration, so that we have transparent and efficient services, available to citizens and the economy at all times.
The Prime Minister said that the clear benefits of these changes were noticed, especially during the pandemic, primarily in the vaccination process, when, thanks to e-government, citizens could easily register and choose vaccines.
We were able to follow the process in real time, to manage it successfully, she pointed out and added that the government, in addition to numerous positive elements, is aware of the vulnerabilities and challenges that digitalisation brings with it.
According to her, cyber security is a real issue and a potentially great threat, and we in Serbia have made rapid progress in providing critical cyber infrastructure.
In that sense, a cyber strategy was elaborated in detail and laws were adopted, a national centre for prevention of security risks of IT systems was established, which obtains all data on potential risks and then warns, Brnabic explained.
She added that two state data centres have been developed, which store data, the most important registers.
