Brnabic announced that she will continue to present concrete results in the field of environmental protection and recalled that in 2014, the Serbian government, led by Aleksandar Vucic, started the fight for a healthier environment in Serbia.
She mentioned that the then government, despite the floods, economic problems and the need for fiscal consolidation, still made the decision to invest $130 million in the construction of filters in TPP Kostolac, the first filter for desulphurisation at one of our thermal power plants.
The Prime Minister underlined that it was a clear signal of what is important for the quality of life of Serbian citizens, and since 2014 the government has invested a total of approximately €600 million in desulphurisation plants, which should ensure cleaner air and the clean-up of consequences caused by the thermal power plants.
We have completed this desulphurisation plant in block B, the construction of these plants in block A and block B in TENT is underway, which began on 1 December 2020, the Prime Minister emphasised.
Brnabic stated that the Law on Climate Change was adopted in March this year, as the first systemic law that deals with this important topic.
She said that she will visit some more projects in the coming weeks to see what has been done concretely in the field of environmental protection and what is planned.
In accordance with that, the Prime Minister stated that €6 billion will be invested in wastewater treatment plants, and their construction will begin in 27 local governments.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Mining and Energy Zorana Mihajlovic, Minister of Environmental Protection Irena Vujovic and Acting Director of Elektroprivreda Srbije power utility service Milorad Grcic were also part of the delegation that visited TEE Kostolac.
