The Serbian Ministry of Finance stated that today’s payout of over 68 million dinars from the Serbian budget means that all inherited debts to local self-governments have been settled, as well as the debts of the Share Fund accrued in 2004 on the territory of various local self-governments, on the basis of privatisation revenue.
In early September, 340 million dinars from the budget was paid into the account of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina (AVP), thus settling all liabilities from the period between 2002 and the end of 2004. In 2005, the government has been paying out debts to local self-governments and AVP on the basis of revenue from the privatisation process on these territories, reads the statement.
Out of the 68 local self-governments that received payments today, the greatest portion went to the city of Belgrade – over 23 million dinars, the Apatin municipality received a little over 6.5 million, and Nis, Subotica and Pancevo each received 4 million dinars. Now that it has achieved a budgetary surplus, the Serbian government will keep repaying the inherited debts depending on circumstances.
