Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said today that, along with electronic services and eGovernment, we strive to make children from Serbia ready for the jobs of the 21st century and to be among the most successful countries thanks to them.
Brnabic attended the presentation of the "My High School" portal, which enables online enrollment for high school students, in one place, as well as the presentation of smart IT cabinets in the First Belgrade Gymnasium.
She reminded that a lot has been achieved so far in the eGovernment process, stating that the introduction of new electronic services continues.
According to her, we want to have a state administration at all levels – republic, local, provincial, which is at the service of citizens 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
The introduction of electronic services, as she said, is the best way for the state administration to become the most efficient, to fight corruption and for the state administration to become a service for citizens.
When it comes to supporting young people, Brnabic pointed out that they have been working on it since 2016, noting that in 2017, programming was introduced as a compulsory subject from the fifth grade in primary schools.
Also, as she added, this year we got the first generation with knowledge of all programming languages, which is a huge advantage that our elementary school students have compared to elementary school students in Europe and the world.
She announced that the subject of the basis of artificial intelligence will be introduced in schools from 1 September, and assessed that it is an additional investment and a great advantage for our students.
According to her, the tendency of the state to strengthen young people as much as possible and prepare them for the jobs of the 21st century is also shown by the fact that three new scientific institutes have been established since 2015, all three in the field of information technologies.
According to her, it is about SENS, the Institute of Information Technology within the University of Kragujevac and the Institute for the Development of Artificial Intelligence based in Novi Sad, while before that the last scientific institutes were formed in SFRY.
First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development Branko Ruzic explained that the portal "My High School" now for the first time combines all the information and services that were available in the previous period, but not in such a unique way.
