Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Prime Minister Ana Brnabic attended today the beginning of works on the construction of the New Belgrade-Surcin road, a new city main road that will connect Belgrade with the "Milos Veliki" motorway.
The event was also attended by Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Tomislav Momirovic, Chinese Ambassador to Serbia Chen Bo, Director of "Corridors of Serbia" Aleksandar Antic, Director of "Roads of Serbia" Zoran Drobnjak, Mayor of Belgrade Zoran Radojicic, Deputy Mayor Goran Vesic and Mayor of New Belgrade Aleksandar Sapic.
During the tour of the construction site, Vucic said that the road to the "Milos Veliki" motorway will be shortened by approximately ten kilometres, noting that the deadline for the completion of works is 18 months.
The commercial contract for the section New Belgrade-Surcin, whose length is 7.9 kilometres, was signed with the company "China Communication Construction Company (CCCC), and its value is €70.5 million.
This section of the "Milos Veliki" motorway is very demanding in terms of construction because it passes through a populated area. It will allow residents of the central part of Belgrade to directly access the "Milos Veliki" motorway, instead of reaching it via the Belgrade-Zagreb motorway.
It was announced that a bicycle path will be built along the route of this road. Also, three lanes, a five-meter dividing strip, two-meter-wide pedestrian paths and road shoulders are planned. There will be three bridges, one canal bridge and one overpass on the route.
