Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikola Selakovic assessed today, in a conversation with Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to Serbia Jørn Erling Gjelstad that bilateral relations are good and accompanied by cooperation in various fields.
Selakovic said that Serbia is interested in further strengthening of the political dialogue at all levels, and pointed out that economic cooperation could be more intensive and that it should follow the positive trend present in political relations.
In that context, he sent an invitation to Norwegian investors to increase their presence on the Serbian market in the coming period, especially with the aim of mutual economic recovery after the coronavirus pandemic.
Selakovic emphasised that Serbia's strategic commitment is full membership in the EU, and conveyed gratitude to Norway, which, although not an EU member, expresses its readiness to help our country with its experiences in harmonizing standards and regulations.
Engaging in the improvement of regional cooperation is one of the priorities of Serbia, he pointed out and assessed that the "mini Schengen" initiative is a good basis in that direction.
Speaking about the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, the Minister reiterated the position that Serbia is committed to achieving a sustainable compromise solution, which would be the basis for full stabilisation, reconciliation and long-term progress in the region.
Selakovic conveyed his gratitude to Norway for the donations of medical equipment to Serbia in order to fight the coronavirus, acknowledged its successful fight against the epidemic through the responsible approach of the Norwegian authorities, and wished it to overcome this challenge as soon as possible.
