Minister for European Integration Jadranka Joksimovic attended today the beginning of the delivery of the necessary material and disinfectants intended for tourist facilities in Serbia to help in the conditions of the coronavirus pandemic.
The total value of the aid, which is awarded within the project "EU for you - for cultural heritage and tourism", is €662,000, and is intended for 600 tourist facilities throughout Serbia.
The first delivery of aid, consisting of UV lamps, contactless thermometers, disinfectants and sprays, went to Golubac and eastern Serbia, in order for tourist facilities to provide a safe environment for their employees and guests.
Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Sam Fabrizi, German Ambassador Thomas Schieb and State Secretary of the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Miroslav Knezevic also attended this event in the Zeleznik warehouse.
Fabrizi that the implementation of a practical project to help the tourism sector in Serbia, which is, as in the whole world, most affected by the pandemic, begins today.
Shieb pointed out that the project under the slogan "EU for you - for cultural heritage and tourism" is a great example of how the spirit of Europe is spreading in Serbia, and added that the goal is to discover the tourist potentials of Serbia to both domestic and foreign guests.
We want to achieve a sustainable green tourism, in accordance with the needs of the local population, at the same time to preserve jobs and create new ones and for people in eastern Serbia to stay and live in their environment, said the German ambassador.
Knezevic stated that approximately RSD 9 billion were allocated from the Serbian budget in 2020 to support the tourism sector, and that this year the Government passed three decrees to help caterers, hoteliers and tourist guides, in the total value of about RSD 3.6 billion.
