Addressing a press conference held before talks with the Dutch Minister for Development Cooperation Agnes van Ardenne-van der Hoeven, Parivodic said that the Netherlands is Serbia’s close diplomatic friend and economic partner and can help Serbia in the European integration process, in becoming a member of the World Trade Organisation, as well as in negotiations with the International Monetary Fund.
According to Parivodic, the Netherlands is helping Serbia in many areas, among which is the development of small and mid-sized businesses, retraining of army personnel and various regional cooperation programmes.
Van Arden-van der Hoeven who talked with Parivodic within the framework of her visit to the countries of the west Balkans, said that the aim of her visit to Serbia is to strengthen and encourage regional economic cooperation, and the integration and establishment of the business and investment climate in Serbia as well as the region.
She said today at the occasion of the opening of a facility for the production of ship parts in the shipyard “Beograd” that the Dutch government plans to invest €10 million in 18 projects in Serbia. She added that cooperation is possible in the areas of agriculture, engineering industry, textile and wood-processing industry.
Dutch Minister for Development Cooperation Agnes van Ardenne-van der Hoeven and her team, together with the United Nations agency for Serbia-Montenegro headed by the permanent representative of the United Nation’s Development Programme Arturo Hein, will visit tomorrow local economic development projects in Leskovac with the aim of giving help to projects for strengthening the private sector in south Serbia worth $3 million.
