Minister of Justice Maja Popovic, Montenegrin Minister of Justice and Human and Minority Rights Vladimir Leposavic and President of the Commission for Prevention of Corruption of North Macedonia Biljana Ivanovska signed today the International Agreement on Exchange of Data on Property of Public Officials.

The agreement envisages that after ratification in the signatory states, the competent authorities of one state will, at the request of another state, submit data on possible property or business of public officials in that country who are suspected of having committed a crime or any kind of corruption.
In practice, for example, the Anti-Corruption Agency of Serbia will be able to directly request from colleagues in Montenegro information on the property of the public official it is checking - whether they own a business or property in Montenegro, and then the competent agency of Montenegro will submit the information to Serbia.
This is the first agreement of this kind in the world, and it was prepared within the Regional Anti-Corruption Initiative (RAI).
Popovic pointed out that with this document, our country has made a step forward in the fight against corruption, which is also a strategic goal of the government of Serbia.
