Minister of Justice Maja Popovic spoke today with Resident Representative of the UNDP to Serbia Francine Ann Pickup about the deepening of cooperation, bearing in mind the excellent results achieved in the fight against gender-based violence and family violence.

Popovic pointed out that it is necessary to additionally strengthen the capacity of social care centres, which would contribute to the empowerment of women and their greater protection.
The collocutors agreed that the best way to help victims of violence is financial independence.
Pickup stated that the Ministry can count on every kind of help, including the one in the field of digitalisation, especially concerning family violence.
The UNDP is not a donor, but a partner of the Serbian government in the implementation of reforms. We adjust our work to your goals and what you want to achieve, she stated.
On behalf of the UNDP, Pickup offered help in the organisation of regional meetings of the competent ministries, but also of judiciary institutions which will contribute to the prosecution of war crimes.
Popovic and Pickup also discussed joint projects, such as “Integrated response to the violence against women and girls in Serbia II” and the campaign “I do care”.
