Following the signing of the agreement, Vuksanovic said that this aid is very important, adding that the acquired resources will be used to equip classrooms with computers at five elementary and high-schools in Senta, Vlasotince, Belgrade and Grdelica.
He said that schools in Serbia vary, adding that the Ministry of Education and Sport has received several demands lately concerning renovation and building of school gyms, therefore more work will be done in those areas in the future.
Vuksanovic recalled that the Ministry of Education and Sport is already realising cooperation with South Korea and that the ministry was awarded the donation from the South Korean agency for international cooperation by submitting the project themed “Equipping 200 school gyms in Serbia”, worth approximately $1.65 million.
Ambassador Kim Young-Hee said that the signing of the Memorandum is an important event for mutual understanding and strengthening of friendship between the two countries.
She said that the government of South Korea believes that investing in human resources is very important for the development of economy and society, recalling that in 2004 the South Korean government made donations, worth $200,000 to 30 schools, while the total value of the aid provided in the previous three years was $1.2 million.
During the previous year, seven elementary and high schools in Belgrade and one high school in Nis used the donation. The representatives of these schools expressed gratitude to the government and people of South Korea for their help and presented the ambassador with artistic works created by the students of the elementary school “Dragan Hercog”.
